Summer Dream

Hello and welcome. It's that time of the week again which means I'm over on the blog at That's Crafty with this weeks project. Time has been very short for me right now so I thought I'd share this GiganTAG which was made for the Hochanda shows a while back that featured these products. I thought with the weather this Bank Holiday being so hot and sunny it would be a nice summery one to end August. Really can't post a make for the C word right now. This is a sneaky peak but you can see the whole GiganTag HERE along with items used and how to's. This shot was in daylight and tilted so you can really see the shimmer of the fabulous paints. The full picture over at That's Crafty shows a front shot without daylight so you can really see how these paints look depending on the light. They are amazing.

Dare to swim

Hello and welcome. I hope you have all had a great week so far. Today I am sharing a nice and easy tag made with the awesome stamp set from Visible image called Dare to Swim.

Here's what I did...

I began by pressing the cracked pistachio and salty ocean onto my craft sheet and spritzing with water. I swooshed the card over to pick up the inks. Dry this with a heat tool. Continue adding the inks to the craft sheet and spritzing with water, dabbing areas of the card into the ink. Keep drying as you go. Continue until happy with the look. Next is a technique which I love with these inks. Take the stencil and spritz with water. Have some paper towel handy as you will need to make sure the sides of the stencil are wiped dry. Place it directly down onto your card dabbing it straight away to take up any excess water. Lift up the stencil and dab up any blotches and then blast with a heat tool. This now gives a subtle faded print of the stencil.

Take the jellyfish and using the stamp platform and versafine onyx black ink pad, stamp the jellyfish in the top left and repeat stamp two or three times to get a good print that is wet enough to take the Cosmic Shimmer crystal sparkle powder. Once sprinkled on, gently heat from the back of the card until all melted. Repeat this with the second jellyfish. I already had a mask cut for this jellyfish from a previous project so used this to cover the image while stamping the shoal of fish in both black ink and also the watering can ink to give the appearance of depth. Take the wording and stamp this at the top of the tag. My preferred ink when stamping over distress oxides is Stampin up ink as it's so juicy and stamps over very well. Now take the seaweed and stamp this across the bottom using fern green and then add a couple with the mossy meadow, add clear embossing powder and heat set. Make sure before you do this to dust over with an anti static pad to ensure the powder doesn't stick to other areas. Take the bubbles stamp and stamp them randomly over the card with the broken china distress ink. Highlight the bubbles with the white signo pen. Doodle a border round the card using a black posca pen and then go round the edge again in the same way using the white signo pen. Add some wink of stella to the circles on the tentacles of the jellyfish to give a soft sparkle.Take the word band and rub over the wording with the Bora Bora to make it pop. Add this to the card and glue on a gem each side.  

Mount the card onto a piece of black card. Mount onto some blue matching card before mounting onto a piece of white card, leaving an inch at the top to punch a hole for the matching ribbon. Die cut two hole reinforcements and glue in place. Add the ribbon and bow.

Now the tag is made, add the glossy accents to the jellyfish and leave overnight to dry thoroughly, making sure it is lying flat so that the glossy accents level out with a smooth finish.

The shows had all the new goodies including this fabulous maple leaf stencil, which was one of the first sell outs. Thankfully Laura and Graham worked hard to get more made. I have to say this is my favourite as it's so versatile and can be used all year round for any occasion. I have used it here to make a wall hanging. Just found your nose

Hello everyone. Here today with a quick tag. I do love making tags and I haven't had any time at all just lately to make something just because I want to, which really are the best as they just flow and are generally much easier and quicker to make.

Here's what I did...

I began with a piece of card measuring 5 x 8 inches. I pressed the picked raspberry, seedless preserves and salty ocean onto my craft sheet and spritzed with water. Swoosh the card through the ink and blast with a heat gun. Keep adding ink in layers, making sure each layer is dry before continuing, until happy with the look. Take the lucky clover and blend across the bottom of the tag where the greenery is to go, give a little spritz of water and blast again with a heat tool. Take the crocodile stencil and spritz with water and lay this onto the tag, dabbing over the top with a paper towel to avoid flooding and spoiling the look. Remove the stencil and dab of excess water and dry with a heat tool. Repeat until happy. Do the same with the dinky PaperArtsy stencil until happy.

Take the stamping platform and stamp the Ostrich directly onto the tag and repeat the stamping until happy. Set this aside. Now stamp the Ostrich onto the a piece of spare card and colour. Cut out the image and glue onto the tag. Having already stamped the ostrich, all the fussy bits that can't be cut out will be there. Take the leaf stencil and blend through with the lucky clover around the top of the tag. Replace the stencil back over the leaves and blend in parts of the leaves with the peeled paint. Using the holiday greens dies, cut out the grasses from various shades of greens and a light brown card stock. Glue these to the bottom of the tag making sure that the base of the ostrich is covered to hide the fact that he has no body. 

I typed my wording using a P-Touch machine and glued onto the tag. Use the black posca pen to faux stitch around the wording and the white posca pen to highlight areas on the face of the ostrich and also to outline the leaves. Mount onto matching card and then onto the white card base leaving an inch at the top. Glue the green roses ribbon across the bottom of the tag.

Take a hole punch to make a hole for the ribbon and die cut two hole reinforcements and glue in place. Tie on the ribbon and make a bow. Round off the corners.

Here's what I did...

Brayer on the china and captain peacock fresco paints until happy with the look. Take the pines stamp and stamp sections of it over the upright using the cobalt ink pad. Mix a small amount of the glass blue fresco paint with water and flick over the upright until you have the desired amount of blue spots. Repeat these steps on the base of your upright. Once dry piece the upright to the base and spread the texture gel along the bottom and up the tag. Set this aside to dry.

Stamp the two large penguins next to each other on smooth white card and stamp the small penguin separately. Cut these out and colour them. Cut a piece of the gauze large enough to bunch up at the bottom and glue this onto the upright. Glue the penguins into position. Die cut some letters from black card to make the word family and glue this into place. Take the two colours of nuvo drops and dot randomly over the upright until happy. Glue on some sequins. 

Take the word band and rub some fresco paint into the wording to make it pop and glue it into place. Take the corked vial and fill with a little of the heart confetti and glitter jewels and glue this to the bottom the the upright. Die cut some fish bones and lightly blend over with distress ink while still in the die and glue into place.

A grumpy penguin family making every second count. They just need to smile lol.
